Preparation of a Supplemental Environmental Assessment and Additional Public Meeting
Following the March 2011 Public Hearing, TDOT decided to revise the proposed design of the SR 28/ US 127. Due to these changes the Federal Highway Administration requested that TDOT prepare a Supplemental Environmental Assessment in order to ascertain if there are any additional impacts in the project area associated with the proposed design changes.
TDOT is currently in the process of preparing the Supplemental Environmental Assessment for the SR 28/US 127 project. Once the Supplemental Environmental Assessment is approved by the Federal Highway Administration, an additional public meeting will be held to gain public input on the proposed design changes. Please see the Project Timeline Section of the website for additional information.
Availability of the Approved Environmental Assessment
TDOT announced the availability of the approved Environmental Assessment for the SR 28/US 127 Improvements Project in Spring 2011. The Environmental Assessment identified proposed alternatives to develop a new route that would improve access on SR 28/US 127 and provide a direct link between Jamestown and I-40 in Crossville. The Environmental Assessment was approved by the Federal Highway Administration on December 22, 2010.
