On July 30, 2010 the City of Elizabethton passed a resolution supporting the widening of SR 91 between Holly Lane and North Roan Street and requested that TDOT study that alternative.

TDOT held a public information meeting/workshop to:

• Provide the public with up-to-date information on the proposed SR 91 improvement project;
  present initial preliminary alternatives/options concepts;
  discuss the environmental process and next steps in the project; and
  solicit comments and concerns.

Approximately 152 people attended the meeting.

Public Workshops
Elizabethton High School
Elizabethton, TN

TDOT held two public workshops to gather public input on the development of potential project alternatives that would address the purpose and need for the project. Attendees were asked to look at the maps of the project area which showed one 1,000-foot corridor to the north of the existing roadway, one 6,000-foot corridor to the south of the existing roadway and one corridor that followed the existing roadway. Attendees were asked to:

• Look at the maps of the project area.Identify areas of potential concern (i.e., wetlands, cemeteries, historic structures).Tell TDOT what they thought should be done to meet the purpose and need for the SR 91 project (i.e. improve existing roadway, bypass, no-build, intersection improvements).

Approximately 86 people attended the 12:00 pm meeting. Approximately 64 people attended the 5:00 pm meeting.

TDOT held a public information meeting and workshop gather public input on the purpose and need for the SR 91 project. This is the first step in the environmental process and is a requirement of the Safe, Accountable, Flexible, Efficient Transportation Act: A Legacy for Users (SAFETEA-LU). Approximately 250 people attended the meeting and workshop.
