Alcoa Highway: SR-115 (US-129) - Knox and Blount Counties
Project Schedule
Currently, Alcoa Highway projects are in the Environmental Stage. The Environmental Document will encompass four (4) projects along existing Alcoa Highway (SR#115) from I-140 (Pellissippi Parkway) to Cherokee Trail. The Environmental Document has been sent to the Federal Highway Administration Division for review. The Planning Division held a public hearing December 4, 1997 and the Design Division held its public hearing March 29, 1999. The Design office also held three (3) neighborhood meetings for input on the interchanges at Woodson Drive, Montlake Drive, and Mount Vernon Road.
The environmental documents include:
- Environmental Assessment Finding of No Significant Impact
- Evaluation (IC King Park)
- Section 4(f) Evaluation De Minimis Impact Finding (Marine Park North)
Public Hearings and public review will be scheduled following approval of the environmental documents.
Earliest date for public meeting: June 20, 2013
Following public hearing process any required changes that arise from the hearings will be incorporated into final Right Of Way plans.
No timetable has been established for any activities beyond the public hearing process.
Begin acquiring rights-of way: Right-of-Way activity is underway for the section from North of Maloney Road to Woodson Drive. No set timelines have been established for the remaining Alcoa Highway sections.
Earliest contract letting date (beginning of construction): Schedule not yet determined.
