Community Workshops

TDOT conducted Community Workshops on March 22, 2004, April 18, 2004 and June 12, 2004 in the Clarksville Highway Project Area.  Approximately 80 citizens were in attendance at each workshop.  The public feedback gathered at these workshops have been used to shape the current proposed design and establish a need for further public involvement through the use of a citizen’s resource team.

Public Information Meeting

TDOT conducted a public information meeting at Temple Church, 3810 King’s Lane on November 11, 2005.  The purpose of the meeting was to update the community on the project status and solicit participants interested in the Clarksville Highway Citizen’s Resource Group.  It was conveyed to the attendees the desired make-up of the group should be individuals from neighborhood and community associations, local clergy, business owners, residential property owners, low income and seniors.   Also in attendance at this meeting were representatives from the local and state governments.

Citizens’ Resource Team

The Clarksville Highway Citizens’ Resource Team (CRT) was approved by TDOT Commissioner Gerald Nicely on July 17, 2006.  The twenty (20) person team is made up of business and residential owners, community representatives and local clergy who live and work within the project corridor.  The Team Kick-off Meeting was held at the Bordeaux Branch Library on Monday, August 21, 2006 (click here for photos).  Mr. Paul Degges, TDOT Chief Engineer, was the keynote speaker; Senator Thelma Harper, the project sponsor, was also in attendance.
