The Division of Multimodal Transportation Resources includes Public Transportation; Rail and Waterways; Rail Inspection and Safety; and the Bicycle and Pedestrian Program. The division administers state and federal grant programs for public transportation. On rail and water transportation, inspects railroads and rail crossings for safety, provides safety upgrades at key highway-rail crossings. The division's Bicycle and Pedestrian Program, monitors TDOT resurfacing projects, and works with other divisions to include appropriate treatments for bicycles and pedestrians.
The Mission Statement
To provide support to Multimodal transportation providers through funding and technical assistance. To promote public private partnerships in transportation to impact economic development and environmental improvements. Multimodal staff members will facilitate by providing the technical assistance necessary for grant applications and awards and by supporting planning efforts consistent with departmental goals. In every action we will strive to respond to the needs of our customers by "going the extra mile" to reach the citizens and businesses in need of our services.
The Division of Multimodal Transportation Resources includes the Office of Passenger Transportation, the Office of Freight and Rail , Waterway Transportation and Bicycle and Pedestrian. The Office of Passenger Transportation is responsible for public transit, planning and public awareness, and research and technical assistance. The Office of Rail and Waterway Freight Transportation administers the funding of rail and track improvements and waterways assistance.
