Research Coordination

• Liaison to research monitoring teams for project oversight and management
• Coordinates research progress reports
• Financial oversight
• Assists in the selection of proposals
• Serves as technical staff to the Technical Advisory Committee (TAC)
• Coordinates research activities to meet the Department's needs
• Makes/arranges presentations on individual research projects for the TAC
• Conducts small project research for the Division and Department

Research, Communication and Technology Deployment

• Maintains listing of Current reports in the Transportation Research Information System (TRIS)
• Maintains listing of Research in Progress
• Solicits research problem statements
• Maintains list of all monitoring teams including project sponsors
• Maintains and updates the TDOT Federal Research Program Manual annually
• Monitors the Local Technical Assistance Program (LTAP) 
• Coordinates with the TTAP (Tennessee Transportation Assistance Program)
• Coordinates research with Product Evaluation

Financial Management

• Maintains accounting system of all research funded activities
• Report program expenditures quarterly to FHWA
• Ensure compliance with all federal mandates of the SPR program
• Process annual TRB and NCHRP funding obligations
• Coordinate financial matters with both internal and external offices
• Ensure compliance with solicitation and contracting process
• Prepare, maintain, and monitor the SPR Work Program (Parts 1 and 2)
• Coordinates the Sign Grant Program

Research Library

• Acquires and maintains research publications and materials with holdings of approximately 16,000 monographs and 100 journal titles
• Operates and maintains a department wide interactive library database (SydneyPlus)
