The Community Planning section of the Office of Community Transportation provides tools and resources to communities in the early stages of comprehensive plan development. The planning staff collaborates with local partners on issues that impact transportation choices and guides the development of a safe, efficient, economically sound statewide transportation network.
The office’s community transportation planners work to strengthen local partner collaboration on transportation decisions. The OCT coordinates with the Metropolitan Planning Organizations (MPOs) and Rural Planning Organizations (RPOs) to consolidate local partner outreach efforts. Additional responsibilities of the Community Planning section include updating the Functional Classification Systems; updating the State Aid Road program; and developing Rural Regional Transportation Plans.
