The Local Programs Development Office (LPDO) administers those federal and state funding programs that are available to local governments to improve their transportation systems.
This site includes information regarding Surface Transportation, Enhancement, Safe Routes to School, Congestion Mitigation and Air Quality Improvement, Spot Safety, Local Interstate Connector, State Industrial Access Road, Interchange Lighting and Bridge Replacement.
The site also has procedural information, such as how to advertise a federally-funded project and how to request reimbursement for eligible local expenditures.
The Local Programs Office has begun scheduling the 2015 Local Government Guidelines Manual & Right-of-Way Training Classes. You can now register for the Region 3 (Middle Tennessee) and Region 4 (West Tennessee) classes. Click here to register. The Local Programs Development Office will be rolling out our new Accelerated Delivery Pilot Program this fall. This process will allow local agencies to develop a project eligible for federal funding with limited TDOT oversight. An upcoming webinar on August 27th will provide local agencies an opportunity to learn more about the Accelerated Delivery Pilot Program. A new edition of the Local Government Guidelines and the accompanying flowchart is available. Additional information for projects that fall under Chapter 10 has been added along with various minor revisions to other sections. Several forms have been revised and a few additional forms have been added. Please begin using the new documents immediately.
The Environmental Division coordinates with the Local Programs Development Office in the Program Development Division to ensure that appropriate environmental documentation is prepared and approved for locally managed projects. Guidance for developing documentation and the Template for the Programmatic Categorical Exclusion for all projects should be coordinated through the Environmental Division.
