I-65 Widening- Williamson County
from SR 840 to SR 248

Proposed Design

The proposed design of the widening of I-65 from north of State Route 840 to north of State Route 248 will consist of the addition of two twelve foot lanes in each direction for 4.096 miles. This improvement will increase the number of traffic lanes from two in each direction to four but will not require additional right-of-way.  The design of the interchange modification at State Route 248 will be a Tight Urban Diamond Interchange (TUDI).

As identified in the Interchange Modification Study, the proposed TUDI design will include an ten-lane bridge over Interstate 65 to provide opposing dual left turns and three through lanes in each direction.  Proposed signalization will be utilized at the ramp terminals with signal control for dual right turn lanes on the southbound exit ramp.  For a view of the planning map for the TUDI interchange, click here (PDF).  The Interchange Modification Study can be found at Project Library.
