I-65 Widening-Williamson County
from SR 840 to SR 248

Project Description

TDOT is now working to widen Interstate 65 from State Route 840 to State Route 248. The project will consist of widening I-65 from two to four lanes in each direction. It will also include modifying the interchange at State Route 248 (Goose Creek) and widening State Route 248 to the Goosecreek interchange from two lanes to four. The Tennessee Department of Transportation (TDOT) and the Nashville Area Metropolitan PlanningOrganization (MPO) proposed the improvements to relieve congestion levels and improve safety.

During construction, consider riding the bus to avoid any possible traffic jams.  The Metro Transit Authority (MTA) offers two routes in Williamson County that could get you from Spring Hill, Thompson’s Station, Franklin, or Brentwood to Downtown Nashville.   Just look for the following route #s on their website.

91X  Franklin/Brentwood Express
95X  Spring Hill Express

Average bus fare is $4 for a one way trip.   Exact fares are listed on MTA’s website.

Want to consider transportation alternatives. TDOT has created a website just for commuters called Smart Commute which provide all sorts of transportation alternatives include van and carpooling, mass transit and ridesharing.

Are there transportation alternatives to commuting on I-65?   Yes.  There are many ways to get to and from Nashville from the Franklin area. TDOT has a website called Smart Commute  which lists all these alternatives. We also encourage you to rideshare.
