Interstate 240 from SR385 to Walnut Grove Road: An additional lane is being added to make I-240 a four lane highway in each direction. On this section, traffic averages over 200,000 vehicles daily and is one of the most traveled sections of interstate in Tennessee. This project will consist of widening and improving a stretch of I-240 located south of Poplar Avenue to north of Walnut Grove Road. An additional lane will be added in both directions of I-240. Noise barriers will be constructed at several locations on the east side. Retaining walls will be constructed at several locations on both east and west sides of I-240. The project will also include a repair of the bridge over I-240 which runs east and west bound on Poplar Ave.
