Updated March 21, 2013
The contractor and subcontractors have been working through the winter months on items which are not affected by weather conditions. This relates to utility lines (gas and water) being installed, as well as ongoing electrical pole line installation. There still remains other utility work to be accomplished with the installation of the sewer lines yet to begin. Also, communications lines for cable companies have to be installed after the electrical lines are completed.
The contractor’s crews have been working to replace the old concrete box culvert on John May Road. This work is progressing very well, and grading to establish the new alignment of John May Road to Western Avenue will commence shortly. The contractor has also begun mobilizing crews to begin the installation of various storm drain lines throughout the project within the next few weeks.
John May Road continues to be closed at the entrance to Western Avenue. This closure is anticipated to last for a few more weeks until all grading and paving operations can be completed in this area.
Work is also continuing on the retaining wall located in the area between Summerfield Drive and Wood Smith Road.
Traffic Alert: Nickel Road entrance to Western Avenue will be closed beginning the week of April 1, 2013 for construction operations. All traffic needing to access Nickel Road from Western Avenue will have to detour using Short Road. The lower access to Ridgedale School will also be closed during this period. The contractor will be completing concrete box culvert installation and grading operations to establish a new alignment of Nickel Road to Western Avenue.
* The work projected to be accomplished is contingent on good weather conditions and may require adjustments in the event of inclement weather or other conditions not under the control of the Contractor as determined by the Project Supervisor.
